Our story

Making native languages a joy, not a chore.

Every screen offers children exciting content in English, from science and history to fantasy. In Indian languages the choice is thin, and much of it feels dated.

So many children, in India and across the diaspora, grow up believing their own language is hard or boring. We started Maadhyamik Technologies to change that. Instead of treating language learning as a chore, we build beautiful, playful apps that make it a joy, so the next generation stays connected to its language, history and heritage.

Lexifyd is the brand that brings it all together: from a child’s first letter to typing a message in your mother tongue.

From one keyboard to a language platform

Dr. Baskaran Sankaran

Founder · Strategy & Technology

NLP researcher, technologist and entrepreneur with over 20 years across academia and industry, including Microsoft Research and IBM Research.

Dr. Baskaran Sankaran holds a PhD in NLP and is the strategic and technical anchor of Maadhyamik Technologies. Throughout his career he has engineered advanced NLP systems and language technology products for Indian languages.

Before founding Maadhyamik, he co-founded Dattendriya Data Science Solutions in 2017, building business analytics and NLP platforms for leading pharmaceutical clients in the US and Europe. The company was acquired by Syneos Health in 2022.

He brings together a research background and a successful B2B technology exit to build a scalable future for Indian languages.

Tamil language specialist, pedagogy expert and digital media professional with over 30 years in Tamil internet research, localisation and editorial leadership.

A pioneer in Tamil internet studies, Dr. Annakannan earned his PhD for research on “e-Governance in Tamil” and has led digital content strategy for Yahoo!, PhonePe, IndusOS, Webdunia, Sify and Magnon (onsite at Google).

He is the author of over 20 books, with poetry translated into 30 languages. At Maadhyamik he designs the course pedagogy, learning plans and curriculum, combining deep linguistic authority with modern instructional design.

Our brand

A name and a look built for exploration

The Lexifyd wordmark is set in Nasalization, a typeface inspired by NASA’s iconic logotype. Much like space exploration stands for boundless discovery, Lexifyd stands for pushing the boundaries of how we learn and use language. Its sleek lines reflect our tech-forward approach, while its rounded shapes keep it warm and clear.

The four colours under the name stand for the four foundational language skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing. And the name? It isn’t a typo.
